AvelPOS has been running real retail businesses since April 2025 and officially launched on 26 February 2026. It is built and operated by AVEL LOOP LTD, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, by African entrepreneurs who ran into the very problems our customers face today.
AvelPOS was built by a team of African entrepreneurs who had personally run into the same problems their customers face: manual bookkeeping, stock disappearing without a trace, no real-time visibility into performance, and business tools never built with African retail in mind. We began running live retail operations in April 2025 and officially launched on 26 February 2026.
To empower retailers with technology that simplifies operations, eliminates inefficiency, and unlocks scalable growth, regardless of the size of the business or the market it operates in.
To become a leading retail infrastructure platform across Africa and emerging markets everywhere, powering millions of retail transactions daily and enabling structured, data-driven commerce wherever our merchants operate.
From daily sales to monthly P&L, every number you need is one click away. No accountant required.
Powerful infrastructure should feel effortless. We hide the complexity so any business owner can run their operation from one clear, connected system.
Your business runs on us, so we hold ourselves to a 99.9% uptime standard, daily automated backups, and a platform you can trust every trading day.
Audit trails on every transaction, role-based access, and real humans on WhatsApp who own your problem until it's solved. We stand behind our work.
We ship improvements every week based on real feedback from real business owners, building the wider AVEL family of infrastructure as our merchants grow.
Every feature starts with a merchant's real need. Dedicated onboarding, same-day setup, and support that knows your business context, not a ticket queue.
Engineered around African retail realities, local currencies and operating conditions, while remaining fully capable of serving businesses with international customers, suppliers or operations.
Our story is the story of African retail - messy, resilient, and full of potential.
After watching a pharmacy in Onitsha lose ₦300,000 in unexplained stock over 3 months, our founder Kelvin Christopher started building the first version of AvelPOS - initially just a spreadsheet replacement for retailers who had no real visibility into their own business.
AvelPOS went into real-world use in April 2025. The first retailers started running their daily sales, stock and reporting on the platform, and told us exactly what they needed next: barcode scanning, real-time stock tracking, instant digital receipts and staff controls.
A supermarket chain in Lagos wanted to manage 3 branches from one dashboard - so we built multi-branch, and it quickly became one of our most-used features. Word spread from Lagos to Port Harcourt to Uyo through recommendations.
With multi-currency support and a multi-branch architecture, AvelPOS expanded across southern Nigeria and into Ghana, helping more retailers run their entire operation on one connected system - a full year of real-world operation before any launch fanfare.
On 26 February 2026, AvelPOS officially launched to the public as retail operating infrastructure - not just a POS, but the connective layer that runs sales, inventory, staff and reporting as one. We are now scaling across Africa and rolling out our mobile app and new features for retailers on the continent.
